When should I book a bridal hair trial?
Your wedding hairstyle deserves just as much thought as your dress. That’s why I always recommend scheduling at least one bridal hair trial before your wedding day. A trial allows you to see your chosen style in real life—not just in photos. Sometimes what looks beautiful on Pinterest doesn’t feel like you, and that’s perfectly normal. During your trial, we’ll explore what suits your hair, face shape, dress, and personal style, making any adjustments until everything feels just right. It’s also the perfect opportunity to try your veil, hair accessories, jewellery, or fresh flowers, so you can see how every detail comes together.
What if my dream hairstyle isn't a current trend?
Trends come and go, but your wedding photos will last forever. My role is to help turn your inspiration into a hairstyle that truly flatters you. Sometimes that means adapting a trend to suit your hair type, face shape, or wedding style. Whether you dream of soft Hollywood waves, effortless boho texture, elegant bridal updos, or romantic braided styles, the perfect hairstyle is the one that makes you feel beautiful, confident, and completely yourself.
How should I prepare my hair before the wedding?
Healthy hair creates beautiful bridal hairstyles. I recommend trimming your ends about one month before the wedding and avoiding any dramatic changes in colour or haircut during the final weeks. Your last colour appointment should ideally be around one week before the wedding. This allows your colour to settle while preventing noticeable regrowth on your big day. Wash your hair the evening before the wedding and leave it free from styling products. Clean, dry hair is the ideal foundation for long-lasting styling. If heat styling is involved, I’ll always use professional heat protection and high-quality products to ensure your hairstyle stays beautiful from the ceremony through the last dance.
Choosing the Right Accessories
The right accessories can transform a beautiful hairstyle into something unforgettable. Fresh flowers, delicate hairpins, pearl combs, elegant headbands, veils, and tiaras can all complement your bridal look. If your dress is heavily embellished, I usually recommend keeping your hair accessories subtle for a balanced, elegant finish. For modern, romantic styles, fresh flowers add softness and a fairy-tale feel. Classic updos pair beautifully with veils or tiaras, while delicate headbands work effortlessly with both timeless and contemporary gowns. Together, we’ll choose accessories that enhance your hairstyle without overwhelming it.
Choosing the Perfect Bridal Hairstyle
The perfect bridal hairstyle is about harmony. It should complement your wedding dress, reflect your personality, suit your face shape, and fit the overall style of your wedding. A simple gown often allows for a more intricate hairstyle, while an elaborate dress is usually best paired with something softer and more understated. There are countless beautiful options—from polished buns and timeless chignons to soft curls and textured updos—but the right hairstyle is simply the one that feels like you. Planning ahead allows us to create a look you’ll feel confident wearing all day long.
How do I book my bridal hairstyle?
The first step is to complete the enquiry form on my Contact page. This allows me to check whether your wedding date is available. Please include your wedding location and the number of people requiring hairstyling, so I can provide an accurate quotation. Once you’re happy to proceed, I’ll send you a booking agreement together with the deposit invoice. Your booking is officially confirmed once the deposit has been received. After that, we’ll arrange your bridal hair trial and work together to create your dream wedding hairstyle.
How far in advance should I book?
The earlier, the better. I recommend booking your wedding date at least six months in advance, especially during peak wedding season. Last-minute bookings are always welcome whenever my schedule allows, but availability cannot be guaranteed.
Can You Style My Bridal Party?
Absolutely! I work independently and can typically style up to eight ladies on the morning of the wedding. Most hairstyles take around 30 minutes per person, although longer or more intricate styles may require additional time. For larger bridal parties, I can arrange for an assistant to join me, ensuring everyone is ready on time.
What are this year's bridal hair trends?
This year’s bridal hairstyles celebrate effortless elegance. Soft textured updos, loose romantic curls, and natural movement continue to be favourites. Vintage-inspired looks featuring fresh flowers are becoming increasingly popular, while sleek low buns with elegant hair jewellery remain timeless choices that never go out of style. The best trend, however, is choosing a hairstyle that feels authentic to you.
How should I prepare on the wedding morning?
Please wash your hair the evening before your wedding and allow it to dry naturally or blow-dry it. Avoid applying styling products such as hairspray, mousse, gel, oils, or heavy conditioners, as these can make your hair more difficult to style and reduce the longevity of your hairstyle. If you have inspiration photos, bring them along—I love seeing your ideas, and they’ll help us create the look you’ve been dreaming of.
Can hairstyling take place at two different locations?
To ensure a relaxed wedding morning, I strongly recommend getting ready in one location. Packing up hot styling tools, travelling, and setting up again takes valuable time and can add unnecessary stress to your schedule. Whether you’re getting ready at home or in a hotel, one location allows us to focus entirely on creating a calm, enjoyable bridal experience.
What If My Hair Won’t Hold Curls?
Every hair type is different, and honesty is important. If your hair naturally struggles to hold curls, I usually recommend a beautiful updo. Properly secured bridal updos are incredibly long-lasting and can comfortably stay in place throughout the entire day—and well into the evening—even in wind or light rain.
How long does a bridal hair trial take?
Every bride is unique, but most trials last around 90 minutes. We’ll begin by talking about your wedding, your dress, your personal style, and the hairstyles you love. Then we’ll create and refine your chosen look together, making sure it not only looks beautiful but also feels comfortable and suits your hair perfectly. The goal is for you to leave feeling completely confident about your wedding hairstyle.
Do bridesmaids need a hair trial too?
Hair trials are primarily designed for the bride. However, if a bridesmaid would feel more confident after trying her hairstyle beforehand, she’s very welcome to book a trial appointment. The pricing is the same as wedding-day hairstyling, as the appointment requires the same amount of time and professional products. If she’s simply looking for guidance, I’m always happy to offer advice over the phone at no additional charge.
Can I try several hairstyles during my trial?
Yes, although I encourage brides to narrow their favourites down to two styles beforehand. Trying too many different looks in one appointment can become overwhelming and may make the decision more difficult. It also places unnecessary stress on your hair, making it harder to achieve the best possible finish by the end of the session.
When is the best time for a bridal hair trial?
I usually recommend scheduling your trial one to three months before the wedding. This gives us plenty of time to make any adjustments, whether that’s changing your colour, trimming your hair, or refining the hairstyle itself.
